Jim Devel worked on worm snakes today. Took dummy back to F S today.
(June 9 Continued from Feb. 6)
The interference from truck lights, the difficulty of stopping safely, and the high speed we undoubtedly passed up many COR's and DOR's, we had no means of knowing how many. Never had a better illustration of the objection - able features of heavily traveled roads. Certainly lost one large snake near the Riverside County line and another near Valerie. It was very disappointing after the wonderful going in the Borego area.
1 Sonora |COR| 3 mi. NW of Kane Spring, 10:55, 76°
1 Arizona M. |DOR| 2 mi. SE of Oasis, brushy desert
1 Leaf-nose L |DOR| Oasis, Saved
1 Desert Gopher L |DOR| Oasis
Arrived at Indio at 12:10. Warm and windy. Cognaturs heard at Oasis, Valerie and Indio. 1/2 moon arose as we landed. Pickled specimens until 12:40. This was the best evening hunt I have ever had. 31 life snakes including the injured worm snake and Sonora.
